Bell Work (10 min.): Countdown to Mastery Week 1 - attempt all five problems on the provided worksheet.

7.G.4 Know the formulas for the area and circumference of a circle, and use them to solve problems;

give an informal derivation of the relationship between the circumference and area of a circle.

Students will make note of the parts of a circle (center, radius, diameter, circumference.

To help remember the formulas, circles are round, so think about pie!

Circumference is the distance around the circle. Area tells us how many square units are inside the circle.

Create a 3D model of a composite figure or an artistic drawing using only the basic geometric shapes (triangles quadrilaterals, circles). Provide a written description of the shapes, then calculate the surface area and volume of your creation. For example, how many square centimeters would it take to cover your shapes? How many cubic centimeters would it take to fill your shapes?
