Mississippi College and Career Readiness Standards (MS-CCRS) for 7th Grade Math:
7.NS - Number Systems: Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with fractions to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers. 7.RP - Ratios and Proportions: Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. 7.EE - Expressions and Equations: Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions; solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations. 7.G - Geometry: Draw, construct, and describe geometrical figures and describe the relationships between them; solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume. 7.SP - Statistics and Probability: Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population; draw informal comparative inferences about two populations; investigate chance processes and develop, use, and evaluate probability models.
PREVIOUS WEEKS: Monday Jan.1 - New Year's Day - NO SCHOOL
Tuesday Jan.2 Bell Work (10 min.): Countdown to Mastery Week 1 - attempt all five problems on the provided worksheet.
Begin Unit 5 – Angles, Area, and Volume 7.G.4 Know the formulas for the area and circumference of a circle, and use them to solve problems; give an informal derivation of the relationship between the circumference and area of a circle.
Students will make note of the parts of a circle (center, radius, diameter, circumference. To help remember the formulas, circles are round, so think about pie!
Circumference is the distance around the circle. Area tells us how many square units are inside the circle. Students will have the remainder of class to work on MobyMax. Wednesday Jan.3 Bell Work (10 min.): Countdown to Mastery Week 1 - complete all five problems on the provided worksheet. MobyMax work day. HW: Workbook pages 45 and 46 are due tomorrow! REMEMBER TO SHOW WORK! Thursday Jan.4 Bell Work (10 min.): Homework check and review Classwork: Students will complete the Are You Ready? problems (Textbook p.307) and add new vocabulary to their Folder (see textbook p.310-311) HW: Workbook p.40 due tomorrow
Friday Jan.5 Bell Work (10 min.): Homework check and review 7.G.5 Use facts about supplementary, complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a multi-step problem to write and solve simple equations for an unknown angle in a figure. The class will review angle classifications and relationships (Folder work!) HW: Workbook pages 41 is due Tuesday -- Monday Jan.8 *Bell Work (10 min.): Countdown to Mastery Week 2 - attempt all five problems on the provided worksheet. *WBp. 45/46 and TBp.307 will be returned and Circumference and Area will be reviewed. Students are expected to rework/complete this assignment if failed. *Folder Vocabulary and incomplete assignments from last week will be checked for completion. *4th period will review the correct answers to WBp.40 Building Blocks of Geometry. (8th period still has some who need to complete the assignment.) *Students will work on MobyMax and make-up work for the remainder of class. HW: Students that failed or didn't complete WBp.45/46 must do so tonight! Also, Folder Vocabulary needs to be completed !
Tuesday Jan.9 *Bell Work (10 min.): Countdown to Mastery Week 2 - complete all five problems on the provided worksheet. Make-up work will be checked (WBp.40, 45/46, and Folder Vocabulary) Students will work on MobyMax during class. (Currently assigned: Circles and Angles) HW: WBp.41 (see the Folder notes from Friday: Determining Angle Relationships (p.39 below.))
