We are studying the unit on Functions and Slope

Get out WBp.49/50 for a status check and Extra Credit points. (5 minutes)

The class will complete the workbook page together. (15 minutes)

Problems from the textbook will be used as a Study Guide. All answers are in the back of the textbook.

Students are expected to try the problems BEFORE checking their answers with those in the back of the book.

Study Guide work will be collected Wednesday for a completion grade. Click

Students that have not completed MobyMax will get a Chromebook and work on their assignments. (15-20 minutes)

Students that have completed MobyMax can work on Quiz Corrections, the Study Guide assignment, or the Problem Solving Packet.

Students that are finished will complete a Thanksgiving Day Graphing activity.

**Class time will be provided for students to work on their MobyMax Math Lessons, but they are encouraged to work on them at home if possible. Not every student has internet access outside of school, so working outside of class on MobyMax is optional.

__Begin Unit 4 - Functions and Slope__

Students will add the next Unit Divider page. The class will review graphing ordered pairs and checking to see if points (x, y) are solutions to given equations. Students should be able to identify parts of a coordinate plane: x-axis, y-axis, quadrants, the origin.

HW Check & Review

The class will create the next Folder page: Graph Stories, and complete the example problems. Students will determine if graphs are continuous or discrete, and describe qualitatively the functional relationship between two quantities by analyzing a graph. Additionally, students will sketch a graph that exhibits the qualitative features of a function that has been described verbally.

The class will study Chapter 2 Lesson 4 Function Vocabulary: relation, domain, range, function, independent variable, dependent variable, and the vertical line test. MobyMax Lessons on Functions will be assigned for students to complete during class.

Students will review and add notes to the examples copied on Friday's Function Vocabulary.

Students will create and complete a Math Folder page on Functions that demonstrates the various ways Functions can be represented: with words, equations, tables, and graphs (TB Lesson 2-5 Equations, Tables, and Graphs)

Students will turn in their workbooks and work on MobyMax lessons (Defining Functions) while the teacher checks the homework for completion.

**Study Guide: TBp.80-82 #1-5 (write the sentences and underline the answers), 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37**

(20 problems. Must show work for credit. The answers are in the back of the book.

Students will turn in their Study Guide work for credit. Students will participate in a Function Sorting Activity.

During the last 10 minutes of class, students will check and correct their workbook answers and Study Guides.

Last week, three MobyMax lessons were assigned: Defining Functions, Functions, and Construct Functions to Model Linear Relationships. These lessons need to be completed by the end of class Wednesday 11/1!

Students that finish first will peer tutor other students.

Additional opportunities for extra credit will be available.

In a previous lesson, students had to distinguish between relations and functions.

In this section, students will distinguish between__linear functions__ (straight lines with a constant rate of change) and __non-linear functions__ (curved lines with variable rates of change). Students must also identify rates of change in multiple representations.

At the end of class... Quiz results and Progress Reports

**Wednesday 10/25:** Turn in Signed Progress Reports for a 100 HW Grade :) and MobyMax.

**Thursday 10/26:** **TBp.344 Activity 2, Think and Discuss question, and Try This.**

The class will__read textbook pages 338-340__.

**Students will be given a page of Slope Notes to add to their folder. The class will highlight the Slope Notes and complete a few examples on how to find slope given two points.**

**Students are to complete workbook pages 41 and 42 from Thursday's lesson. Work will be collected at the end of class.**

__Monday 10/30__

**Finding Slope Activity** - students will use their folder notes to identify slope given two points, from a word problem, and from a graph while the teacher checks work from Friday. The class will then review answers. Students are expected to make corrections to their work and ask questions to clarify understanding.

**HW: Complete any problems not finished Friday. Quiz corrections are due tomorrow, and students need to answer #15 from today's worksheet.**

The class will complete a foldable on how to write a linear equation in slope-intercept form given the slope and y-intercept, the slope and a point on the line, two points, from standard form, and from point-slope form. Check back for pictures! Students will practice these methods on WBp.43
